Argent were an English rock band founded in 1969 by keyboardist Rod Argent. I also recomend picking up this album if you enjoy 70's style rock. Overall, if you're a Petra fan, I recomend you pick this one up even if only to hear Greg X. Holy Ghost Power has a small choir singing it and the song just makes you wanna dance. The same article states that Petra altered the lyrics, then KISS altered them a bit more for there cover, which was called God Gave Rock and Roll To You. The title track has a very catchy melody. This isn't to say that the only good songs on this album were the ones with Greg Volz. Much of it sounds aged today, but when it was first played in '77 it was some of the loudest rock you could here. This album does have some amazing guitar work, as is signature with Petra. There's also a brief reprise of the song featured as the last song in the album. Petra released it in 1977 as part of their second album, Come and Join Us. The band released it first in their 1973 album, In Deep.

Thank goodness, however, that Bob Hartman does know how to ROCK on the guitar. 'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You' was originally written and composed by Russ Ballard for his band, Argent. That is, of course, until he was replaced with John Schlitt later in Petra's career. Volz as their permanent lead singer after this album. It's not that he has the inability to sing, it's just that his voice is high pitched and simply does not fit this style of music. If any of you have heard Petra's debut album, then you know that this is a bad thing. Unfortunately, he only is the lead vocals on this song and "Woman Don't You Know." Most of the other songs have Bob Hartman as the lead. :) Anyways, when the opening song finally gets finished with it's beautiful instrumental intro, we are treated to a very well done version of Argent 's "God Gave Rock & Roll to You." This is also the first song that we are treated to Greg X. That's just fine, though, because that's when this album was made. This continues for about a minute when it finally makes a flawless transition to rock music. I am introduced to a very nice, ambient, and peaceful opening. When it arrives in the mail, I instantly open the package and throw it in my CD player. So when I saw this one on CD it's only natural that I buy it. So it's only natural that I try to complete my collection of their albums. Their lyrics and awesome sounding music has helped me through many hard times and really helped my relationship with God.
